Engineering Young Entrepreneurs Scheme is a competition for postgraduate students and post-doctoral researchers to present a business plan for an imaginary start-up company to a group of shrewd investors and industry experts. The programme covers all aspects of the commercialisation of new product and service development from discovery, to the first sales. Great learning for entrepreneurs or for researchers who want to gain extra employability skills and stand out from the crowd at interview!
Participants learn the techniques of how to go about planning a new business venture, meet local entrepreneurs and business leaders who have done it for real and have a lot of fun at the same time! There are also over £2000 worth of cash prizes up for grabs.
The programme is free to enter for participants*, runs over three days and includes three nights full board hotel accommodation. We host a briefing session prior to the commencement of the programme and work with Birmingham Science Park, Aston to deliver the Grand Final one day event for the two top teams from each heat.
*Note: The actual cost of participating in this event is £800 per person (early bird and bulk purchase discounts available). This should be available from PGR enterprise training budgets within your institution. Teams and individuals wishing to enter should l liaise with their own Institution training and enterprise office staff to secure funding as well as contacting us with expressions of interest.
We are delighted to announce that we are supporting the Energy CDT Network and University of Nottingham Institute for Enterprise and Innovation (UNIEI) to launch the inaugural Energy YES workshop (see separate tab for details).
